Boyne Rovers 2-3 Balscadden FC 1sts
The first team snatched a dramatic win in a five-goal thriller at Boyne Rovers in their LSL Premier Sunday clash on Tuesday evening.
Balscadden started well and took the lead inside 15 minutes, Luke Kimmage pouncing after a long throw-in caused confusion in the home box.
The visitors looked in control at that stage but Boyne hauled themselves back into the game, with Rob Murray making a great one-on-one save to deny them an equaliser. They did score shortly afterwards however when their striker raced on to a ball over the top and coolly finished.
It was all square at half-time, but Boyne took the lead around the hour mark when another through ball caught Balscadden out and they finished well.
With 15 minutes to go Luke Kimmage glanced home a wicked Ciaran Murtagh free-kick to level it up again, and that sparked a ding-dong finale.
Chances came and went before Philly McNally did well to hold the ball up and feed Ger Sweetman on the wing. He found Dylan Casey who checked inside and curled a terrific effort beyond the keeper.
That proved to be the winner as the lads came away with a very hard-earned three points.
