The first and second teams both began their new league campaigns with victories at the weekend.
On Saturday the seconds dug deep to to grind out a great 2-1 win over Mourne Celtic. The visitors took the lead inside 15 minutes after a break of the ball in the middle of the park allowed them to counter and fnish off well.
But Balscadden hit back ten minutes later after good work from Shane Whelan teed up Ryan Whelan to drill home a very good finish.
The game ebbed and flowed thereafter and looked destined to end in a draw, only for Niall Jordan to snatch the points with a fantastic 25-yard strike into the top corner in the 90th minute.
On Sunday the first team took on Stella Maris in their opening Major 1 fixture.
Sean O'Rourke broke the deadlock with a brilliant bicycle kick off a corner and then smashed home a second. Stephen Sharpe made it 3-0 with a nice finish before Stella pulled one back with a header. Ciaran Murtagh's penalty restored Blscadden's three-goal advantage, however the game was blown up with 15 minutes to play when Stella Maris walked off the field in protest at some refereeing decisions.
It looks likely we will be awarded the points but await official confirmation from the LSL.
