Balscadden FC 1sts 3-1 Mount Merrion
The first team produced a strong performance to beat a good Mount Merrion in LSL Premier Sunday this morning.
The visitors settled well in Ringcommons but it was Balscadden who broke the deadlock. Anto Coates forced his way past two players and then unleashed a brilliant strike that flew into the net.
Mount Merrion responded, as a ball over the top was latched on to by their striker who confidently equalised.
With the game on a knife edge, Anto Coates swung it Balscadden's way again after he prodded past the keeper following a corner.
A commanding second half saw Balscadden grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Great work from Paddy Coates saw him keep possession under heavy pressure and feed Sean O'Rourke, who calmly rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home.
Mount Merrion rallied in the closing stages but Balscadden defended well to close out the win.
