The first team dug out a very good 4-1 win away to Kells Youths FC in the Leinster Junior Cup first round on Sunday morning.
The hosts took an early lead after a mix-up at the back but Balscadden soon clicked into gear and were level by the 12th minute, Luke Kimmage heading home after a good cross from Sean O'Rourke.
Luke then turned provider in the 27th minute when he drilled in a low cross and this time Sean was there to convert.
Kells won a penalty in the second half but Rob Murray pulled off a great save and the game really turned in Balscadden's favour thereafter.
Anto Coates drove in from the right and smashed in a great finish, and Anto then got his head on a Gary McGrane corner to make sure of the victory.
That puts Balscadden into the hat for round 2. Next up is an FAI Junior Cup clash with Ballyoulster United on Friday night.
